Rich in history, mystique and romance, fancy colored diamonds are the rarest of diamonds. For every colored diamond, there are 10,000 colorless diamonds. Colored diamonds command prices 20 to 25 times more than white diamonds. Popularity of these rare gems has been increasing for the last 3 years as more celebrities are seen wearing colored diamonds.

Colored diamonds are rare, but red, intense green and intense purple diamonds are extremely rare. Fewer than ten of each color are found per year. Due to their scarcity, the larger, more perfect diamonds of these colors command prices of US$1 million and higher.

Once found only in collections of the aristocracy or in the crown jewels of the world’s monarchs, colored diamonds have become available to anyone who wishes to experience the elegance and beauty of these romantic jewels.

Diamonds are rare because of the unusual set of circumstances required to create each stone. The diamonds we see today were created millions of years ago under high pressure and relatively low temperatures at a depth of eighty-seven to one hundred twenty miles below the surface of the earth. Then a small number of volcanoes fueled by magma that reached three times deeper than most magma sources brought the diamonds to the surface through volcanic eruptions.

The first colored diamonds documented were mined on ancient Indian rivers as long as 6,000 years ago. Today, mines are located in several areas of the world. The largest diamond mining company is De Beers, followed by BHP Billiton, the Rio Tinto Group and Petra Diamonds. The Argyle Mine in Australia mines over 90% of the world’s pink diamonds as well as other colors. This mine is due to close in 2018. This will no doubt contribute to higher prices for the Argyle diamonds.

You can still find bargains on colored diamonds if do your homework. Celebrities are driving up the prices for certain colors. Other colors can be found at relatively affordable prices. The prices are influenced by color, rarity, and popularity.

If you want the most important person in your life to feel truly unique, imagine her wearing one of the rarest of all diamonds.

When You Think of Horse Jewelry, What Comes to Mind?

People have been fascinated with horse jewelry (jewelry with horses on it) throughout the ages. From the most ancient of days to our present era today, families would often incorporate the image of a horse into their jewelry. Usually made from precious metals and gems, such as gold, silver, and diamonds, they were often passed down from generation to generation. They became valuable keepsakes.

Where did this practice come from? This desire to put a “mere animal” into beautiful jewelry that will be owned and loved and yes, shown to others? When we think of the horse it’s not hard to fathom. The horse is an animal with a number of desirable traits…traits that we all hope to possess in our own character. Some of these traits are:

1) Horses are Strong. Throughout the ages horses have been asked to perform many of man’s most menial tasks. We need to think no further than the noble Clydesdale. It can spend all day plowing the fields, and then find time to pull the famous Budweiser Wagon. Any jewelry that incorporates the design of the horse will exude the shear power and strength of this wonderful animal. This form of jewelry is a very popular gift item amongst men.

2) A Horse’s Grace. When you think of grace what come to mind? A horse? This is true for many people. If you watch a horse running along a field you see grace in action. Every fiber of their being seems focused on propelling this beautiful creature along. Beautifully streamlined, this magnificent creature has become the heart’s desire of many a young boy and girl. What happens if we add diamonds to the mix? We come up with a very special blend. Diamonds are also known for their class and elegance, and it’s a gem that marries perfectly with equestrian design.

3) Horse Nobility. Many years ago, during the Middle Ages to be more exact, knights would often ride long in their full battle armor. The symbol of a horse would often be designed onto their shields. What form of transport did the peasant use? Their feet. No horse, no armor, and most certainly no shield with a horse design. If we move ahead to our present day we find that people of high-ranking are often honored with horse jewelry (such as gold brooches and medallions). Sometimes rings with the design of a horse are awarded to people as a sign of their “nobility” or “high social status”.

We have left til now the main reason that people wear horse jewelry. Do you know what it is? It’s because they love this magnificent animal. Sure, like you and I, they have to go to work or school, shop or play, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t display their love of horses to the world.

It’s Time To Get Involved

Gold is real money, real wealth. No other form of currency has endured the test of time as it has. Its resiliency goes back thousands of years, and its position as an uncomparable storehouse of wealth should go on for another 5,000.

Currencies all over the world, every single year, go down and down in value, and that’s why every single year prices of goods and services go up. The money in your pocket or in your bank is effectively worth less and less each year. Your money is now buying way less than what it would have bought you 100 years ago, whereas an amount of gold bought a 100 years ago would now buy you way more.

Those who have been wise enough to already invest in gold have been making huge profits. At the moment, an ounce of Gold costs a record $1150; compare that to the $34 an ounce it cost in 1970, and it’s not difficult to see why it is such a good investment. There’s no need to think that you’ve already missed out on the opportunity though, and that it has already peaked in value, as the last year alone has seen a 30% increase in the value of gold, and big investment firms are predicting that the $2000 ounce is not so far away.

The best way to invest in gold is to buy actual physical gold you can see touch and smell, which is why everybody lately has been investing in gold coins. Buying gold bars is another option, but this is beyond a lot of people due to the huge upfront cost needed. With gold coins though, they come in smaller, more affordable options, meaning that they are accessible to even small or first time investors. You can also divide up your investment and sell any amount off while leaving the balance untouched.

So, where is the best place to purchase gold coins? You can buy them from either a local gold coin store or from an online coin store. Whichever you opt for, be sure to only go with a reputable seller, ideally one that has reviews and testimonials that you can actually check up on. You don’t need a great deal of money to start with, and with just a few hundred dollars you can start amassing your future fortune.

I’ll leave you with this final point: A report performed by Collector’s Universe showed that one thousand dollars invested in rare gold coins in 1970 is now worth $57,977.00. Sounds good, right?
